Mary Ellen Moser

Mary Ellen Moser, PhD, MBA, CDEI is a certified general appraiser. The review of many thousands of appraisals, and for a wide variety of clients, gave Mary Ellen the opportunity to study reports from all 50 states, both finest and the poorest—reports written in the best and worst of market circumstances, including natural disasters. Having been “dot becalmed” from a career in business communications and training, Mary joined her family company at its busiest time and became an appraiser and appraiser educator. Her years as a residential and commercial field appraiser specializing in review appraisal led her to develop Best Appraisal Practices.

Mary’s course tips and recommended supporting comments also result from the study of thousands of client requirements and revision requests. The typical field appraiser sees far fewer scenarios and will benefit from Mary’s portfolio of revision requests and responses, illustrations, value supporting comments, and exhibits. Appraisers, reviewers, and underwriters benefit from numerous case examples in Mary’s courses, distilled from the best and worst reports.

Mary has designed, developed, and taught MBA online management courses. As an approved instructor by the Texas Real Estate Commission, she’s also developed distance and classroom continuing education courses in appraisal and appraisal review, offered nationally.

She lives in Dallas, where she is principal of a family-owned real estate and appraisal company in operation since 1910.  She continues to specialize in appraisal review.
